Reduce, Recycle and Reuse

Reduce - Next time you are in a store to buy something, ask yourself "Do I really need this? Can I borrow it or share it with someone else? Will this break soon and will I have to throw it away soon? It is packaged with a lot of cardboard, plastic or paper?" If you can do without it or borrow it don't buy it. If it is a "disposable" item that is thrown away after one, two or a few uses, consider buying a more durable item that will last longer. Avoid over-packaged products. Birng your own shopping bag.

Recycle - Recycle everything you can: glass, aluminum cans, bi-metal and steel cans, paper, plastic, etc. Buy items that come in recycled packages. Start a compost heap.

reuse.gif (5324 bytes)

Reuse - Before you throw something in the trash, consider ways that you might be able to reuse it. For example, an empty jar can become a storage container for leftovers or knick-knacks. Sell unwanted but usable household items in a yard sale. Donate clean, usable goods to a charity.
